Comment Policy

UPDATE (4/28/21):  With the decision made (see post here) to end this blog, I am no longer monitoring proposed comments, and as a result, no new comments will be able to appear on this blog.  If you have any questions about any posts or your own legal situation, please e-mail me directly at SLeven@thebaldwinlawfirm.com.  Thank you for your time reading this blog.

I wrestled for some time with whether or not to allow comments on my posts, and while I do not expect many comments I did ultimately decide to allow them.  Comments can act to further one of the main purposes of this blog - specifically to spread information to the general public to help them with their legal problems.  However, as this is my blog, and also because I am constrained to some degree by the Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct, I will be keeping to a very strict comment policy.

Comments that add to, support, or disagree with something I state in a blog post will be allowed, so long as they are respectful.  Comments responding to allowed comments that add to, support, or disagree with those comments will be allowed, so long as they are respectful.  And that's about it.

Comments about me, the firm I work for, or any other attorney will not be allowed, and will be deleted as soon as discovered.  This includes positive comments about me, the firm I work for, or any other attorney, for reasons relating to the Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct.  If you wish to publicly comment on me, the firm I work for, or any other attorney there are multiple forums available for you to do so (Martindale-Hubbell and Yelp, for example), but you cannot do so in a forum that I ostensibly control for a number of reasons, not the least of which being, again, the Rules of Professional Conduct.

If you leave a comment and it gets deleted but you are uncertain as to why it was deleted, feel free to e-mail me at SLeven@thebaldwinlawfirm.com and I will be happy to provide an explanation.
